(April 7, 2009) Hi I'm M.C. Nygard and I have two Horse crazy kids who were the
inspiration behind PonyPartyIdeas.com. "Mom," said my oldest (and most Horse
craziest) one day, "Hannah Montana is just a trend, but horses are forever."
How true! I must admit that I wasn't a Horse crazy girl myself. Sure, I loved horses as
much as the next girl, but no where near the passion I see in my own Horse Crazy
kids who love Horseland, Saddle Club and Breyer horses. My kids are so passionate,
they only wear underwear with horses on them!
We started our family fervor for horses the day, I unwrapped a few vintage Breyer
horses from my childhood and let my toddler play with them. Stupid me. The plastic of
vintage Breyer horses is extremely brittle and a leg broke. So I shelved my little
collection and set to eBay to buy Breyer horse replacements. I had a bit of horse
fever and the collection grew to 300+ model horses of different sizes. My infatuation
with horses didn't end with Breyer. I bought vintage Bakelite horse brooches, Horse
socks, Horse costumes, Horse Party lights, Horse lunch boxes, Horse backpacks and
more. If they had a horse on a toothbrush, I'd buy it!
Then one day I was planning a pony birthday Party and couldn't find any cute horsey
Party supplies at the local party store. There was plenty of Hannah Montana stuff
around but not much in the classic themes, like Cowboys and Indians, princess
without Disney, and fairies. In short, with a dearth of supplies available, I set my
family passion to a business selling Horse theme birthday Party supplies and more on
eBay. I quickly became a Platinum Power seller with eBay.
Selling on eBay was fun. It was surprising how much horsey stuff I sold to Texans. It
seems that even in Texas horse theme party supplies are hard to find. Once I sold
300+ comical Big Head Horses, pictured left, to a Girl Scout Troupe. You can find them
on Oriental Trading or eBay and get cash back from your purchase, or get them for
.79 cents each searching Amazon for: "Big Head Horse" by Century Novelty on
Amazon.
