Cakes for Horses!
Celebrating a special day with your horse? Check our cakes
and treats specially formulated for horses (not humans).
You've heard the expression "As hungry as a horse." Horses eat a lot, and grass is
not enough to keep a horse healthy. To supplement their mostly grass diet, horses
will enjoy different types of corn, oats, barley grains. They have the added benefit of
helping them build muscle. Other foods for a horse include bran, hay, and sugar beet.
And, a horse, of course, always appreciates special treats carrots and apples.
If you're renting a pony for your pony party, or if your child is headed for horse camp
this summer, then you'll want the ask the owner or establishment for permission to
feed the horses as horses require special diet. Some foods are poisonous for horses
and can cause illness, liver damage, and even fatality. For example, Ragwort is a
flower that often grows in pastures, and while it looks like an innocent daisy treat, but
it can cause liver damage or even be fatal for horses.
Sometimes an owner will want to give a special treat or will approve one you provide.
Treats are used in training and to pamper a beloved pet. Treats also may be awarded
after a win at a horse show or to commemorate the horse's birthday. If a celebration
warrants, and you have permission, then try Paddock Cake treats. Horses love
Paddock cakes and these are split in half with a marshmallow in the middle! They are
fun to give. Specials cakes and treats for horses are just a click away:

How to Think Like A Horse: a note about treats
Feeding treats to a horse from your hand will quickly turn your horse into a "pocket
pest" according to Cherry Hill, author of "How to Think Like a Horse -- the Essential
handbook for Understanding Why Horses Do What they Do" pictured right. Ms. Hill is
also the best-selling author of Horsekeeping on a small acreage. In "How to Think Like
a Horse," Hill explains that using human teaching methods, such as bribing or hugging
and kissing your horse will confuse your horse at training limiting your horse's ability
to respond appropriately. But if you treat your horses respectfully with methods your
horse understands, then your training is more productive and your horse is happier.
